The One Thing That Shifted Our Real Estate Business

Imagine starting a multimillion dollar company and quitting because you weren’t making money in month one or seeing extreme sales in month three?

Imagine starting a multimillion dollar company and feeling defeated if one sale didn’t go through or one lead didn’t play out…..

So many people chase transactions and don’t treat this job as their actual business!

We ditched short-term thinking and embraced what we call the "5-year mindset." We started thinking about our business in terms of the next 5 YEARS instead of the next 5 transactions and that drastically changed the way we did things.

We began building for the future, nurturing relationships, and investing in our database like it's our lifeline (because, well, it is).

Just think of it like this - every person you talk to will most likely buy, sell, or know someone who will buy or sell within the next 5 years.  Treat them like that!

Here are some high-level things to pay attention to when adopting the 5 Year Mindset:

Database Dominance: Your database is your best friend in this business. We're all about adding contacts, keeping in touch, and giving them content they actually care about by making sure they’re on our email list and friends on social media!

Provide Value: We host regular events to invite our clients to. If you don’t have the budget to do this, it can be as simple as inviting them to the park for a family fun day. Partner with your lender and title reps to help out with costs. The most important thing is to provide value to your clients and show up as the professionals they need when it’s ready to transact.

Be Patient: Some of our biggest deals came from relationships we nurtured over years that we didn’t even know we were nurturing. They were clients who engaged with us or silently followed us on social media over the last two years. Turns out, good things really do come to those who wait (and work). Isn’t that crazy?

I remember the ups and downs of being a new agent. When someone told me they were going to wait a year to buy felt like the lowest low and when someone told me they were ready to list tomorrow felt like such a high. I was thinking very near-sided which made every decision so emotional.

When we stopped looking at just tomorrow and began looking at the next 5 years, everything changed. So, here's the deal: shift your perspective, think long-term, and watch your real estate game level up. It's not always easy, but trust me, it's worth it.
